What geolocation is for

For relevant commodities, EUDR traceability requires production-location information so the underlying area can be assessed against deforestation requirements.

Points and polygons

The required geometry depends on the production plot and applicable rules. Larger plots may require polygon information rather than a single coordinate point.

Data-quality checks

• Use valid latitude / longitude values.
• Check coordinates land on the expected production location.
• Avoid swapped latitude and longitude.
• Keep the supplier source and date for every coordinate set.
• Maintain a link between each shipment/product lot and its production plots.
